I Am Co-Habiting

Thousands of people live together without getting married. Unfortunately most think that after a few years together or if they have children together, they then become a Common Law husband or wife and have same rights as a married person.

Let there be no doubt about this. If you live with another person unmarried (including single sexed couples), with respect to finance and inheritance you are known as a Cohabitee and do not have the same rights as a married person. The general term Common Law means law based judicial decisions and custom.

If there are no surviving members of your family then the whole Estate would go to the Crown (Government).
